Tucked inside the AC Hotel on South Main, The Press Room is a place you have to be let into. A reservation comes with a code for a hidden door, and once you step off the elevator and through it, the room opens up like a 1920s newsroom. That is on purpose. The building spent more than 75 years as the home of The Greenville News, and the framed clippings on the walls are real articles, some over a century old. The cocktails carry that same newspaper theme, poured in glassware built to match, and a short menu of small plates and desserts rounds out the evening. The food changes with the seasons rather than sitting still, so summer and December read differently. The whole room can also be booked out for private groups of up to around 45. Beyond the regular pours, the bar keeps its own calendar of bourbon dinners, wine tastings, and cocktail classes. It has earned a following for inventive drinks and an intimate feel, and was named an OpenTable Diners' Choice in both 2024 and 2025. What shifts most is the concept itself, reworked through the year, so the current theme and the drinks built around it are best heard straight from the room.
